From Pixels to Trixels: Glasses-free 3D Billboards

We have developed a technology enabling glasses-free 3D billboards, which provide outdoor-compatible luminance and are scalable to practically any desired display size. Each display element—a so-called “Trixel”—consists of a laser beam scanner that deflects the emitted light beams to the left and right eyes of a large number of viewers in a time-multiplexed manner.

Jörg Reitterer is one of the founders of TriLite Technologies, an Austrian high-tech startup working on next-generation display and laser beam scanner technologies. He received his BSc, MSc, and PhD degrees in electrical engineering and microsystems technology with highest distinctions from TU Wien, Austria. For his work has received 15 national and international awards and scholarships. His work has also been highlighted in some major media such as Forbes, Wired, New York Magazine, Discovery Channel, IEEE Spectrum, Daily Mail, and many more.
